Split by page range

Split a PDF

Pull specific pages or ranges out of a PDF into their own files. It happens in your browser.

  • Pages copied unchanged
  • ZIP for several parts
  • No upload or account

Your file never leaves this device — everything happens locally in your browser.

How it works

Splitting, step by step

  1. Choose the PDF

The one you want to split.

  2. Type the pages or ranges

Separate them with commas, like 1-3, 5, 8-10. Each entry becomes its own PDF.

  3. Split and download

Select Split PDF. Save each part on its own, or all of them as one ZIP.

Why split

When splitting helps

  • Get under a per-file upload limit

If a portal accepts several files, splitting a long scan and compressing each part is often easier than squeezing one file.

  • Send only the pages someone needs

Pull a signed page or one chapter out of a long document instead of sending all of it.

  • Undo a merge

Cut a combined application packet back into its separate documents.

  • Pick pages by eye instead?

If you'd rather choose pages from thumbnails, use Organize PDF Pages and extract the ones you select.

The result

What you get

File names
Each part is named after your file and its pages, like report-pages-1-3.pdf. The ZIP is report-split.zip.
Page content
Copied as it is: nothing is recompressed and text stays selectable.
Not carried over
Bookmarks and fillable form fields from the original.
File size
Up to 100 MB.
Page numbers
Must exist in the file. A range past the last page is flagged before anything is split.
Passwords
Password-protected PDFs aren't supported.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

See all frequently asked questions
How do I choose which pages to split out?

Type the pages or ranges you want as separate files, like "1-3, 5, 8-10" — each range becomes its own PDF. You can mix single pages and ranges freely.

Can the same page end up in more than one split file?

Yes, if your ranges overlap — for example "1-3" and "3-5" both legitimately include page 3 in their own separate output file. Each range is independent.

What do I get if I split into more than one range?

Each range downloads as its own PDF, or you can download all of them together as one ZIP file.

Is my PDF uploaded to split it?

No. Splitting happens entirely in your browser — your file is never sent to a server.
